An enduring question gives grants a direction

The session follows seven transitions: question, capability, assets, people, portfolio, platform and institution. Each award should advance an important problem and leave something the next project can use.

African cases make the choices concrete

Examples from research centers and universities across Africa illustrate different routes to continuity. Participants examine reusable data, specialist methods, research sites, partnerships and the institutional systems behind them.

The next proposal starts during the current grant

The exercises connect findings to the next research questions and map a funding pathway across short, medium and longer horizons. Teams identify what they need to demonstrate before seeking a larger award.
